My first blog post…ever!

About 12 years ago, I took a year-long online marketing course. In the years since, I’ve used that knowledge to help many small businesses set up their blog, providing SEO and industry-specific best practices. However, I never actually wrote a blog myself. Though I enjoy writing and have a lot of hobbies (gaming, traveling, running, free diving, to name a few), I was too busy doing them to spend time writing about them.

But here we are in Fall, 2021. The last year has been wilder than a feed sack full of barn cats and after being laid off twice (once for Covid-19, once for the Oregon wildfires), I decided to pursue a life-long interest: software engineering.

After conducting much internet research on the top programs in the U.S., I chose the Flatiron School for it’s superb rankings and focus on community-building. Part of the recommended curriculum for my program is writing a technical blog to share with others in the development community. So, here it is.

This blog will be focused on technical learnings and ponderings but will occasionally be peppered with life events and bits of weird humor that almost no one likes. In the words of David Bowie, “I don’t know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring” (unless you don’t care about development).
